Who is Jesus?
Who is Jesus?
In this sermon, Pastor Brian Petak delves into the profound theme of God's unwavering faithfulness as depicted in the biblical account of Noah from Genesis chapters 7 to 9.
For ages, humanity has grappled with keeping promises, often faltering due to our inherent imperfections. Pastor Brian shares personal stories of broken promises from his youth to highlight this universal struggle. Contrasting human fallibility, he emphasizes that God's promises are rooted in His unchanging nature and character, and He always fulfills them.
The core belief here is that despite the sin that separates us from God—a condition where we choose ourselves over Him—God remains steadfast. Sin earns us separation from God, but in His rich mercy, He made a covenant with Noah, symbolized by the rainbow, promising never to destroy the earth by flood again. This covenant points forward to the ultimate fulfillment of His promises through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Jesus came to earth to "seek and save the lost," living a sinless life and sacrificing Himself on the cross to bear the punishment for our sins. Three days later, He rose from the grave, offering us complete forgiveness and new life when we turn away from sin and place our faith in Him as Lord and Savior.
The Bible assures us that if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved. Pastor Brian invites you to reflect on your own life and consider the significant steps of faith—your own "ark"—that God may be calling you to undertake. If you feel the need to embrace God's promises and experience the hope, healing, and freedom He offers, you can pray: "Lord, I know that I need You. I want to be saved from sin. I desire new life in Jesus. Forgive me. Change my heart. Give me a new beginning."
