Ascent Kids

We are taking extra measures to keep your kids safe.

Ascent Children’s Ministry is Open!

After much prayer, considering parent inputs, and discussion, the Ascent Church reopened our children’s ministries on Sunday, August 23rd. We understand there are differences of opinion regarding such an important matter and how best to move forward. We encourage you to be patient and kind to one another (1 Cor 13:4), even those who may disagree with you. As we have seen in the past few months, circumstances may change very quickly, so our plans may change as well to keep all healthy.

During this time, we are taking extra precautions to provide a safe and impactful environment for our kids and families. Please consider volunteering to help educate and keep our Ascent kids safe! For more information or to sign up to volunteer, please email Kathy Collins at

We are asking families to please register each child prior to service.

New Check in Procedures

  • Volunteers will check in children to limit the number of people using the church iPads.

  • Parents will need to fill out a Health Screening form.

  • All children and volunteers will get their temperature taken with a touch-less thermometer. To enter the children’s ministry, children and volunteers will need their temperature to read less than 99.7 degrees.

  • Parents will stay outside of Tiny Town and classroom areas to limit exposure. Volunteers will escort children into their classrooms and supervise their immediate hand-washing or sanitizing.

  • No diaper bags or other bags allowed in Tiny Town. Please put all supplies (diapers etc) in a clear ziplock bag with your child’s name on it.

  • Masks are required for all volunteers and strongly encouraged for children 10 years and older to reduce the chances of accidental spread of the virus.

During Class

  • Volunteers will encourage children to social distance in our classrooms (for example, sit spots in the classrooms for lesson time).

  • There will be no snack served to minimize the potential amount of hand to mouth transmissions.

  • Weather permitting, we will increase outside time on the playground for Tiny Town and we’ll decrease classroom rotations.

  • Volunteers will disinfect each classroom with CDC-approved cleaning products after each group uses it.

  • Each child will be given an individual pencil bag with supplies to avoid cross contamination. These labeled bags will be used every week.

  • Kids will hand-sanitize before entering a new classroom and, if needed, during class.

  • We will open the windows whenever possible to increase ventilation.

  • We will not play contact games in High Trails and Elevate.

Pick-Up Procedures and Post Pick-Up

  • Parents give a volunteer the child’s name tag(s) and the volunteer will retrieve the child (or children) for you.

  • All classrooms, supplies, and frequently touched surfaces will be throughly sanitized using CDC-approved cleaning products.

  • These new measures will require more volunteers. Please consider volunteering to help us educate and keep our Ascent kids safe for future Sundays!

The Ascent Church is proud to be the new regional host location for AWANA, where our kids have fun while learning to hide God’s Word in their hearts!

We partner with Cathedral Rock Church to bring this awesome program to our community on Wednesday evenings at 6pm.
